What Is Interior House Painting?
Interior house painting transforms the look and feel of your home more dramatically and at lower cost than almost any other renovation or maintenance investment. Whether you're refreshing a tired colour palette, preparing for sale, moving into a new home, or updating after a renovation — professional interior painting delivers a quality of finish that DIY simply can't match. The difference comes down to preparation and technique: professional painters fill and sand imperfections, properly apply cutting-in techniques at edges and corners, maintain consistent coverage across large surfaces, and achieve clean transitions between surfaces that give a room a polished, finished appearance. One Call Property Care provides interior painting services across Southeast Queensland for residential homes, investment properties, and rentals.
Our Interior House Painting Process
- Consultation and Colour Selection
We discuss your vision, recommend finishes appropriate to each room (matt walls, semi-gloss kitchen and bathroom, gloss trims), and can arrange sample pots to test colours on your walls before committing.
- Room Preparation
Furniture is moved or covered, floors and carpets are protected, fixtures and fittings are masked, and wall surfaces are inspected for holes, cracks, nail pops, and scuff marks requiring repair.
- Surface Repairs and Sanding
Holes are filled, cracks are repaired with flexible filler, nail pops are set and filled, and surfaces are sanded smooth. Glossy surfaces are sanded or sugar-soaped for adhesion. This preparation step makes all the difference to the final result.
- Priming Where Required
Repaired areas, stained surfaces, and any new plasterboard are primed before topcoating. New plasterboard requires a full sealer coat to prevent suction variation showing in the final finish.
- Painting — Ceilings, Walls, and Trims
Ceilings are painted first, then walls, then trims and doors. We use professional cutting-in technique at edges and corners and roll walls consistently to avoid lap marks. Two topcoats are applied as standard.
